Gavin Cookman

Gavin has worked at NatWest, KPMG and Old Mutual in a series of executive and non-executive roles, and as a voluntary trustee on the Board of Diabetes UK.

He left the City in 2012 to build a portfolio of executive and non-executive roles in the NHS, health insurance and sports business consultancy, and is one of Coode’s senior consultants.  Gavin is particularly experienced in working with boards and their sub-committees to improve their effectiveness and performance through leadership behaviours.

His professional background spans over 30 years in banking, insurance and consulting, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, large-scale programme management, turnarounds, governance and risk management.

Gavin has lived and worked in seven countries and speaks fluent Spanish.  In his spare time he works across a variety of areas for diabetics – as a Type 1 himself.  He lives with his family in south-west London where he coaches and plays hockey (slowly) at Teddington Hockey Club.
