Gavin Cookman

Gavin has worked at NatWest, KPMG Consulting and Old Mutual in a series of executive and non-executive roles, and as a voluntary trustee on the Board of Diabetes UK.

He left the City in 2012 to build a portfolio of executive and non-executive roles in the NHS, health insurance and sports business consultancy, helping boards improve their performance through leadership behaviours.

He works particularly with boards and their sub-committees to improve their effectiveness. His professional background of over 30 years spans banking, insurance and consulting, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, large-scale programme management, turnarounds, governance and risk management.

He has lived and worked in seven countries, and speaks fluent Spanish. He lives with his family in South West London where he coaches and plays hockey (slowly) at Teddington Hockey Club. In his spare time he works across a variety of areas for diabetics – as a Type 1 himself.
